OUTLAW IN-LAWS MOVES IN STATESIDE

Media Headquarters is please to announce OUTLAW IN-LAWS is coming to American broadcaster Style Network. The cable net has licensed 39 episodes of the program, which helps solve conflicts between spouses and their in-laws. Produced by Media Headquarters in Toronto, Canada, the series was originally commissioned by Slice Network in Canada.

“Outlaw In-Laws, with its drama-filled ‘before’ and transformed ‘after’ is a perfect fit for our current programming lineup,” said Katie Buchanan, VP of programming and acquisitions for The Style Network in a statement.

The series follows internationally renowned advice expert Ellie Tesher as she visits homes suffering from family feuds and gets them back on track. Distributor Picture Box also recently sold the series to MTV Finland, and anticipates additional sales on the series in the next few months.

“Outlaw In-Laws is a hit format for Slice in Canada and we’re happy to see it premiering in the US. This innovative series exposes the reality of interfering in-laws and offers great solutions to broker peace,” said Robert Cohen, Executive Producer, Media Headquarters.


MEDIA HEADQUARTERS OPTIONS AWARD WINNING DEBUT NOVEL BY HOWARD SHRIER

Media Headquarters has optioned the critically acclaimed novel “Buffalo Jump” and its sequel “High Chicago”, by award winning Canadian author Howard Shrier.

Currently in talks with various Canadian and International broadcasters, Media Headquarters is developing a dramatic series based on the books, which will follow the antics of private eye Jonah Geller and his investigative firm World Repairs.

Already receiving national recognition for having “a well-juggled storyline brimming with humour, a cast of intriguing characters, and graphic scenes alive with action (The Hamilton Spectator)” Executive Producer Robert Cohen says “Buffalo Jump has all the ingredients for a fantastic television series. We are thrilled to be working with Howard Shrier on this adaptation.”

Shrier was born and raised in Montreal, where he earned an Honours Degree in journalism and creative writing at Concordia University. He has worked as a writer for more than thirty years in a wide variety of media.

FOUR SEASONS MOSAIC NOW ON HOME VIDEO

Media Headquarters is pleased to announce that its award winning, critically acclaimed film THE FOUR SEASONS MOSAIC is being released internationally on home video by Analekta in North America, and by Sony BMG in the rest of the world. The DVD will be part of a special DVD/CD package that includes a recording of Vivaldi’s ‘L’Estro Armonico’ performded by the world-renown Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra.

THE FOUR SEASONS MOSAIC unveils a remarkable and bold musical endeavor: the reinvention of Antonio Vivaldi’s beloved masterpiece ‘The Four Seasons’ to include Chinese, Indian and Inuit artists. CAMERAS ROLLING ON HIGHLY ANTICIPATED NEW MINISERIES THE SUMMIT

Filming has begun on Media Headquarters’ THE SUMMIT, a four-hour, two-part miniseries for CBC and Global Television. THE SUMMIT is about a military-engineered smallpox virus smuggled into Canada as leaders of the world gather for a G8 Summit. Directed by Nick Copus (The 4400) the miniseries features an all-star cast, including: Bruce Greenwood, Christopher Plummer, James Purefoy, Wendy Crewson. Rachelle Lefevre, Mia Maestro, Stephen McHattie, and Lisa Ray.

The partnership between CBC and Global Television has provided a unique opportunity to support a production of this magnitude. Filming continues on the eight-week shoot until November 21, 2007 in and around Ontario, England and Ecuador.

THE SUMMIT is co-produced with Shaftesbury Films in association with the CBC, Canwest Global and Power Corporation.


ACCOLADES CONTINUE TO POUR IN FOR THE GREAT POLAR BEAR ADVENTURE

Media Headquarters is pleased to announce that its family movie THE GREAT POLAR BEAR ADVENTURE has won a Gemini Award for Best Original Music Score for a Program or Mini-Series. The show received a total of 3 nominations: Best Original Music Score for a Program or Mini-Series, Best Direction in a Children’s or Youth Program or Series and Best Visual Effects.

Earlier THE GREAT POLAR BEAR ADVENTURE took home the award for Best Children’s Production at the Yorkton Short Film & Video Festival. Entering into it’s 60th year, the Yorkton Short Film & Video Festival is the longest running festival of its kind in Canada.

THE GREAT POLAR BEAR ADVENTURE takes viewers inside the secret life of polar bears and the dramas they experience in their fierce northern habitat. The family movie, featuring the voices of Howie Mandel and Megan Follows, was nominated for an Emmy Award for Best Children/Youth/Famly Special this year.


OUTLAW IN-LAWS – PRODUCTION BEGINS ON A 2ND SEASON

OUTLAW IN-LAWS is back for a second season with 26 new episodes broadcasting on Slice. “It’s great to be back helping families with their in-law issues”, says Executive Producer Robert Cohen. “This season promises a fresh crop of spirited in-laws problems that are sure to challenge Ellie.” In the series, internationally renowned advice expert Ellie Tesher uses her trademark wisdom and wit to get troubled families back on track.

In this new season of Outlaw In-Laws, Ellie helps: a daughter in-law who refuses to enroll her child in school; a sister-in-law who is a practicing witch; a video game obsessed son in-law; an Eastern European mother in-law determined to turn her granddaughters into perfect housewives; a Christian fundamentalist convinced that her son has transgressed to the dark side; and a secretive and paranoid son in-law who hides out from his prying mother in-law.

OUTLAW IN-LAWS – A HIT WITH VIEWERS AND CRITICS

OUTLAW IN-LAWS is a ratings success for Slice Network in its first season and has significantly contributed to the newly re-branded network’s audience growth. Alliance Atlantis reported that since re-launching the Life Network as Slice in the Spring, the time periods airing OUTLAW IN-LAWS saw a 60% audience increase for the target demographic of Women 18-49.

The series is a hit with critics as well. “I love this stuff!” says columnist Joel Rubinoff of The Record, “It’s a ridiculously entertaining reality show that defuses tensions between battling family members.”

Series creator Robert Cohen says, “Outlaw In-Laws brings a fresh perspective to reality television. We wanted to create a series that shows audiences they aren’t alone dealing with exasperating family members, and that their problems can be overcome.”

EMMY NOMINATION FOR MHQ’S THE GREAT POLAR BEAR ADVENTURE

Media Headquarters is please to announce that its family movie THE GREAT POLAR BEAR ADVENTURE has been nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Children/Youth/Family Special. The nomination was announced in New York yesterday by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences at the annual Kidscreen Summit at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers in New York City.

The Children’s Emmy Awards will be given as part of the 34th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles on June 15th.

THE GREAT POLAR BEAR ADVENTURE takes audiences inside the secret life of polar bears in a revolutionary way. It allows families to imagine life from a polar bears’ perspective using CGI animation. Executive Producers are Robert Cohen, Shari Cohen and Robin Neinstein. Director is Robert Cohen.

In OUTLAW IN-LAWS Ellie visits families torn apart by fighting in-laws and get them back on track. Armed with valuable advice and insight, Ellie takes on the most difficult in-laws around and helps put an end to harmful behaviour once and for all.
